Tournament Coordinator Recap:
A beautiful day by the bay! Twenty-one intrepid women braved a gorgeous day, with no wind and no delay in play–but bumpy greens and no air conditioning in the bar–to emerge triumphant and happy after a tournament with lots of prizes and much camaraderie (plus free lunch for all!)
Among the triumphant were: low net, Meg Walsh at 89 and low gross, Pat White at 71. Closest to the pin on #4 were Deb Miller (A), and Suzanne Fong (B) and on #10, Shelly Kopp (A) and Kathi Kling (B–who birdied the hole, her first birdie ever!). Other birdie queens were Terri Martell and Meg Walsh (2!). Mistress of the chip-in jar was Mindi Canner, who had two chip-ins and may never need to buy balls again (or a putter!)
The game was Mutt and Jeff, which some suggested might have been more aptly named if you added an S before Mutt’s name, but Mindi C., Debra M. and Terri Martell persevered and, with a score of 114, won the big money. 2nd place (118) went to April, Della, Meg, and Linda, 3rd place (123) was snagged by Dee, Pam, Shelly and Pat.
Many thanks to the volunteers: Meg Walsh ably assisted by Della Gutierrez (and a big 10 calculator) did the scoring; Pat White was our registrar; and Shelly Kopp, our Annie Liebowitz of the Link (photographs). Sun, fun, money, gift cards, food, friendship, and of course GOLF–hallmarks of a ForeWomen tournament–and hats off to the mastermind behind it all, Alleen Hodgkin. Another wonderful year of great tournaments.
FWGA would like to thank Linda Dobb for coordinating the Monarch Bay Tournament.
