FWGA CELEBRATES 20 YEARS!
FWGA is proud to announce our 20th anniversary! We celebrated during our first tournament of 2016 at Eagle Vines Golf Club. Our tournament season got off to a great start with 42 players in attendance, 15 were past members who remembered the beginning days of FWGA. We also had 5 past presidents playing…Tina Higashi 2000-2001, Judy Miller 2004-2005, April Kenyon 2008, Tami Waddell 2012-2013 and Della Gutierrez 2014-2015.
Players showed up early to warm up their sticks and get their game on. Lunch was provided and our “Pay it Forward” program was on site to promote our new logo wear. It was a flurry of activity!
Eagle Vines supplied us with a shotgun start at noon and the format was two best low net balls. There were two flights and very close competition.
First place in the “A” flight went to Maureen Richardson, Della Gutierrez, Cheryl Ramirez and Liz Riddle with a team score of 125. 2nd place in the “A” Flight was Julie Campiotti, Terri Malatesta, April Kenyon and Tami Waddell with a score of 130.
In Flight “B”, the first place team was Meg Walsh, Alice Hansen, Marilyn Bestion and Debbie Hellman scoring 127. The 2nd place team of Judith Coleman-Cohen, Sharon Greene, Shirley Walker and Carol Papke had a score of 131.
On to our low gross and low net scores, each receiving a sleeve of ProVI golf balls.

We were excited to present a round of golf at Eagle Vines to our two Closest to the Pin winners – Hole number 5 was April Kenyon, 27’, Hole number 14 was Allison Caplan, 11’ Chip in’s by April Kenyon, Cheryl Ramirez and Linda Dobb. Our Birdie Board starts off with the following players – Meg Walsh, Liz Riddle and April Kenyon (2)

In honor of our 20th anniversary, we raffled off some additional gifts – 2 sets of US Open LPGA tickets -Judith Coleman-Cohen and Brenda Hofbauer were the winners. A tee shirt which reads “I know I play like a girl – try to keep up” to Mindy Canner, a Titleist Visor and a couple of ladies golf gloves.
I want to thank all the volunteers – Judith Coleman-Cohen, Linda Dobb, Della Gutierrez, Cheryl Ramirez, April Kenyon, Therese Johnson and Shelly Kopp. Without you, my job would be impossible!
I also want to thank all the players for coming out and celebrating our anniversary. It was a fantastic day sharing stories from the past and playing such a beautiful course.
